Zürich's New Kühne-Akademie Aims to Shape the Future of Opera

The Opernhaus Zürich and the Kühne-Stiftung have joined forces to launch the Kühne-Akademie, a pioneering institution designed to nurture the next generation of opera singers and music theater leaders. This initiative, set to begin in autumn 2026, combines artistic excellence with leadership training, offering a holistic approach to career development in the opera world.

The academy will provide specialized modules for singers, covering not only vocal and performance skills but also essential career tools like contract negotiation, financial literacy, and mental health awareness. By 2027, the program will expand to include a leadership track for future intendants, focusing on strategy, innovation, and personal development.
