The 1000 Miglia, Italy’s legendary endurance race, is more than just a celebration of classic cars—it’s a cultural touchstone that unites generations. This year, the race’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, ‘1000 Storie,’ brought the excitement of the Red Arrow to Fondazione Casa di Dio in Villaggio Violino, Brescia. The event aimed to share the thrill of motoring history with those who might otherwise miss it, transforming the race into a tool for inclusion and remembrance.
At Casa Zanoni Cavallaro, 20 classic cars were showcased, accompanied by 40 volunteers from the Technical Support Convoy. Beyond the gleaming vehicles, the event was a heartfelt dialogue between generations. Residents, many of whom remembered the race’s heyday in the 1950s, shared stories and even took short drives in the vintage cars. Eyes lit up with wonder as the past met the present, creating a tapestry of shared memories and new experiences.
The initiative is part of 1000 Miglia Srl’s broader CSR strategy, which also includes environmental sustainability and educational projects like ‘La 1000 MIGLIA va a scuola.’ As Aldo Bonomi, President of AC Brescia, noted, the race is deeply intertwined with Brescia’s heritage, and events like these reinforce its role in community life. With the race’s 100th anniversary approaching in 2027, ‘1000 Storie’ serves as a reminder of how cultural icons can bridge divides and foster genuine solidarity.
